This Cookie Policy explains how HotelOil, operated by Reviewstay, LLC ("Hoteloil," "we," "us," or "our"), uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies when you visit hoteloil.com and use our web application (collectively, the "Service"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

Folio public hotel sites hosted on separate subdomains may use a reduced set of technologies appropriate to those public pages. This policy primarily describes cookies on the main HotelOil marketing site and authenticated application.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. We also use local storage in your browser for similar purposes, such as remembering cookie consent choices.

How we use cookies and similar technologies

We group cookies and similar technologies into the categories below. Essential cookies are necessary for the Service to function. Analytics cookies help us understand usage patterns and are loaded only if you accept cookies in our banner.

Cookie categories

1. Strictly necessary (essential)

These cookies and storage entries are required to operate the Service. They cannot be disabled in our systems without breaking core functionality.

• Authentication: Session and refresh tokens that keep you signed in securely (managed by Supabase Auth)
• Security: CSRF protection and session integrity checks
• Load balancing: Infrastructure cookies from our hosting provider to deliver the application reliably

2. Functional (preferences)

These remember choices you make to improve your experience.

• Theme preference: Stores light, dark, or system theme selection (cookie name: theme)
• Sidebar state: Remembers whether the application sidebar is expanded or collapsed
• Layout style: Remembers dashboard layout preferences where applicable
• Cookie consent: Stores your accept or reject choice for analytics cookies in local storage (cookie_consent_status)

3. Analytics (optional)

If you click "Accept" on our cookie banner, we may load Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect aggregated usage data such as pages visited, referral source, and general device information. We do not load analytics scripts if you click "Reject."

• Provider: Google Analytics (Google LLC)
• Purpose: Measure traffic, page views, and product usage trends to improve the Service
• Retention: As configured in our GA4 property and Google's policies

Third-party cookies

Some third parties may set cookies when you interact with embedded content or connected services:

• Stripe: When you complete checkout or manage billing, Stripe may set cookies required for fraud prevention and payment processing
• Google / Microsoft / Slack / Meta / LinkedIn / X: If you initiate an OAuth connection, the provider's authorization page may set its own cookies during login
• Sentry: Error monitoring may use session identifiers to diagnose application failures

We do not control third-party cookies. Please review each provider's privacy and cookie policies for more information.

Managing your preferences

When you first visit HotelOil, our cookie banner lets you accept or reject optional analytics cookies. Your choice is stored in local storage and respected on future visits from the same browser.

You can also manage cookies by:

• Adjusting your browser settings to block or delete cookies (note that blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in)
• Using browser extensions or privacy tools that limit tracking
• Opting out of Google Analytics via Google's opt-out browser add-on
• Clearing site data for hoteloil.com in your browser to reset consent and preferences

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no industry standard for responding to such signals, the Service does not currently alter its behavior based on Do Not Track headers. You can still reject analytics cookies using our banner.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, or our practices. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
